Welcome!

Hey, I’m so glad you are here! I made this blog just for you after all. You can learn more about the who’s and why’s in my “About” section. But, I’m here to hopefully help. Either by explaining things related to thyroid cancer in depth or adding my voice for AYA (Adolescent/Young Adult) cancer advocacy. Thanks again for stopping by!

Can we be friends?

Memorialized me and Tommy in wax today at Kim’s Place. Slaying! ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #ayacancer #ayacsm #youngadultcancer #youngadultcancersurvivor #youngadultcancersurvivors #yacancer #thyroidcancer #thyroidcancersurvivor #thyroidcancerawareness #thyroidcancerwarrior #scanxiety #thyca #mdandersoncancercenter #mdanderson #endcancer #cancersucks
Let’s start a new trend! Scan selfies or Scanlfies perhaps? 😂⁣ ⁣ The results are in:⁣ ⁣ There is still stuff in my neck, but it’s stable since June. Is it cancer? Maybe. Is it not? Also maybe. It’s not likely respond to RAI, so a future surgery is on the horizon. When? 2 years? 5 years? 30 years? Nobody knows. ⁣ ⁣ This is thyroid cancer. It’s not “take it out and you’re done”. It’s not “fix it and forget it”. It’s not ringing a bell and moving on. It’s a lifetime of monitoring and evaluation. This is why “good cancer” is so frustrating and invalidating. ⁣ ⁣ I don’t know what the future holds. I can’t say what my next scan will look like. But my surgeon told me go after life, and that’s what I plan to do! ⁣ ⁣ I want to say thanks to Tommy for being there for me in spirit and by phone. I had his hoodie with me during my scan and felt less anxious. ❤️⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #ayacancer #ayacsm #youngadultcancer #youngadultcancersurvivor #youngadultcancersurvivors #yacancer #thyroidcancer #thyroidcancersurvivor #thyroidcancerawareness #thyroidcancerwarrior #scanxiety #thyca #mdandersoncancercenter #mdanderson #endcancer #cancersucks
Here are some beautiful pictures of day 3 at MD Anderson. I had a wonderful lunch with my mother at the fountain. I was thinking about pizza during my scan, so I got some! ⁣ ⁣ Pizza and Snapple remind me that I left part of my ❤️ in NY (@tommy_tsunami41 )⁣ ⁣ Waiting for scan results. We are all hoping and praying. Thank you all for your support!! I love you guys ❤️ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #ayacancer #ayacsm #youngadultcancer #youngadultcancersurvivor #youngadultcancersurvivors #yacancer #thyroidcancer #thyroidcancersurvivor #thyroidcancerawareness #thyroidcancerwarrior #scanxiety #thyca #mdandersoncancercenter #mdanderson #endcancer #cancersucks
Day 1 at MD Anderson is in the books!⁣ ⁣ It started with seasonal donuts and ended with Christmas cake. ⁣ ⁣ A visit with my favorite beaver in the middle. ⁣ ⁣ Still crushing it at Mario Kart in Kim’s Place. ⁣ ⁣ And a wonderful time showing off @tommy_tsunami41 to some my MDACC family!! I am so thankful to have these folks to celebrate with. I still have to tell several more. ⁣ ⁣ Hope to find out thyroglobulin and other lab results tomorrow. Scan is on Thursday. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #ayacancer #ayacsm #youngadultcancer #youngadultcancersurvivor #youngadultcancersurvivors #yacancer #thyroidcancer #thyroidcancersurvivor #thyroidcancerawareness #thyroidcancerwarrior #scanxiety #thyca #mdandersoncancercenter #mdanderson #endcancer #cancersucks
I have so much to be thankful for. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If you look through my Instagram, you will notice I have a closed smile and lots of make up. This was a shield of sorts. I heard a lot of lies after my cancer diagnosis. Such as... ⁣ ⁣ I wasn’t lovable anymore.⁣ ⁣ I wasn’t attractive anymore. ⁣ ⁣ That nobody would ever love me again. ⁣ ⁣ I was irreversibly damaged.⁣ ⁣ There was no hope that I would be happy again. ⁣ ⁣ I felt like I had to be perfect all the time just to be accepted in society. Cancer and the aftermath of it shattered my self image.⁣ ⁣ The fact that when I look through our photos and see little to no make up with an open smile proves that all wrong. You not only accept me, and show it by having tums ready at the airport for a potential calcium attack, but you still think I’m beautiful. And that includes my scars and cancer baggage. ⁣ ⁣ Thanks for repping one of my baseball teams. Thanks for your understanding and respecting of my journey. And most importantly...⁣ ⁣ Thanks for loving me so I could love myself again. ⁣ ⁣ #thyroidcancer #thyroidcancersurvivor #thyca #thycawarrior #ayacsm #ayacancer #ayacancerawareness #youngadultcancer #youngadultcancersurvivor #thyroidcancerwarrior #cancersucks #cancersurvivor #cancersurvivors
